Yes. Sleepy Time Tracks Side Channels are designed to work with most existing roller shades and cellular (honeycomb) shades, so there is usually no need to replace your current window coverings.

The adjustable width design helps accommodate different shade thicknesses and even helps control common roller shade edge curl and light gaps.

They can be used on both inside and outside mount shades and are available in removable or permanent versions depending on your needs.

The removable version uses a magnetic attachment system that allows the Side Channels to easily pop on and off when needed. This is a great option for tilt-in windows, rentals, or situations where you may want easier access for cleaning or adjusting your shades. The removable version requires about a 3/8″ side gap (about the thickness of a pencil) for proper operation.

The permanent version uses a strong adhesive mounting system designed for a more secure long-term installation. It features a slimmer profile that fits tighter gaps and only requires about a 1/4″ side gap. The permanent version is more economically priced and although designed to stay in place permanently, it can be removed later with little to no wall damage to your wall surface.

The removable version uses two magnetic strips that attach magnetically to each other. One magnetic strip comes pre-attached to the Side Channel, while the second adhesive-backed strip attaches to your wall or window frame. This allows the Side Channels to easily pop on and off when needed for cleaning, tilt-in windows, or shade access.

Please note: while the Side Channels themselves are removable, the adhesive-backed magnetic strip attached to the wall is intended to remain in place long term. Removing the wall-mounted magnetic strip in the future may damage paint or drywall surfaces.

Each Side Channel ships in two separate pieces that attach together during installation. This adjustable design allows you to customize the channel width from approximately 1-1/4″ to 2″ wide to better fit your shade, whether you have a roller shade or a wider cellular shade.

Shipping the Side Channels in two pieces also makes them easier to trim before assembly. The mounting tape comes pre-applied for faster installation. One track piece will arrive with the mounting strips already attached, while the second track piece will not have any mounting strips attached. After trimming, simply attach the two pieces together to create the desired width, then install the assembled Side Channel onto your wall or window frame.

The magnetic (Removable) require 3/8 gap along each sie for the side channels to fit. 

The permanent version require 1/4 gap long each sie for the side channels to fit.

Yes. Sleepy Time Tracks Side Channels can be used on outside mounted shades. In fact, we believe our patented adjustable Side Channel design is the only system specifically designed to work with outside mounted shades while still allowing adjustable width to accommodate different shade types and light gap conditions.

Sleepy Time Tracks Side Channels are designed to be easily trimmed to fit your window. Most customers use a pair of utility scissors or tin snips to cut the tracks to the desired length before assembly.

Because the Side Channels ship in separate pieces, trimming is often easier and more accurate before the two pieces are attached together. Once trimmed, simply attach the pieces together to create the desired width and install.

For the cleanest results, we recommend measuring carefully and making straight cuts on a flat surface.

Sleepy Time Tracks Side Channels are available in white/black and black/black finishes. The inside of every track is always black to help absorb light and improve blackout performance.

For a more custom look, the tracks can also be painted with most household paints to better match your walls, trim, or window frame.
